It was at SIU that Bob met and married Dianne Bartelle Shullaw, of Calumet City, Cook Co., IL.  Bob and Dianne were married 11 JUL 1964.  A premature daughter was born to them 24 NOV 1964, and died the following day.  Infant Alice Katherine Anderson is buried at Carbondale. Bob's uncle, Don Anderson, a Baptist minister, drove up from Metropolis to conduct the funeral service.

Bob and Dianne lived in Carbondale for the first three years of their marriage while Dianne finished school.  Bob, just short of graduation himself, enlisted in the United States Army.  He received training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; Fort Knox, Kentucky; and Fort Lee, Virginia.

The Army eventually brought Bob and wife to Fort Richardson, Anchorage, AK in July of 1967.  Their son Jeffrey Lee Anderson was born the following 21 MAR 1968, at Elmendorf Air Force Base Hospital at Anchorage.

Following First Lieutenant Andersonís discharged from the Army, he entered the real estate field.  After a few years, he joined the hordes who helped build the Alaska Pipeline, based primarily at Tonsina Camp, outside Glennallen.

Bob and Dianne were divorced 14 JUL 1972.

Following his pipeline stint, Bob returned to Anchorage where he met and married the former Miss Rosemarie Nasti of Florida on 1 APR 1977. Bob became a safety inspector for numerous construction projects which took him from the east coast to the west coast for extended periods of time.  Eventually, he became affiliated with Alyeska Pipeline Corp. and was based out of Valdez, AK.  After several years of commuting between Anchorage and Valdez, Bob moved his family to Valdez in the fall of 1994.

Bob retired from Alyeska in 2003 and returned to Anchorage.
