Beverly Historical Society: a book called, "Ryal Side from Early Days of Salem Colony" which documents Robert Hebard being an employee of Gov. Winthrop's son and being employed as a salt maker.  Book states, "Mr. Winthrop (jr.) also erected a dwelling-house on his land and lived there at times with his employee, Robert Hebard, his salt maker." The salt house was apparently completed in 1637/38 according to the Ryal Side book. It lists its information as being obtained from the Salem Town Records, Volume 1.

Robert later moved from the salt house property, purchasing his own land alongColon Street in nowBeverly.

The Ryal Side book is available for purchase ($20) at the Beverly Historical Society and is by Calvin Pierce.

Virtually all Hibbards inAmerica descend from Robert Hibbard, a salt maker fromSalisbury, England, who came with theWinthrop group toSalem, Mass. around 1635.  "A Genealogy of the Hibbard Family," by A.G. Hibbard.

Diana Spencer, Princess of Wales, is a direct descendant of Robert Hibbard through his son Ebenezer.  Diana's sons, Prince William and Prince Harry of Great Britain, are tenth cousins of Tristan Lee Anderson and Myah Mathilda Schmitz.  This, of course, means that Jeff Anderson, Jenna Goff and Jessye Schmitz are ninth cousins to Princess Diana.  Dianne is Diana's eighth cousin, one time removed.
